The Cold Stares Информация о группе Authenticity. A word that is frequently used in describing The Cold Stares, and frequently missing from most modern music discussions. “Our goal from the start has been to create music that we would want to hear ourselves” says front man Chris Tapp. “There is a power that is arrived at by just doing what is natural to us and owning where we come from.” Hailing from a few hours north of Nashville TN, an area that has produced songwriters like John Prine, and the Everly Brothers, Chris Tapp’s songwriting was influenced as much by the local story-tellers as the hard rock he and Mullins grew up on. Add in a love for the Delta just a few hours south and you see why some have categorized the band as sounding like a cross between Soundgarden and Son House. The Cold Stares bring a southern narrative and story-telling to their music that has been infectious with their fans. In 2010, The Cold Stares won Hard Rock Cafe's "Ambassador's of Rock" contest in Nashville and finished 2nd nationally beating out thousands of bands. The result was a national tour, media appearances on Fox TV and NBC, and articles in publications like the Huffington Post and Vintage Guitar magazine. The group did radio stations apperances across the country, and the bands first full album "A Cold Wet Night and a Howling Wind" went on to sell 25k plus copies remaining on Amazon's Blues and Rock Charts at #1 for 6-8 weeks. Across the country in interviews and articles the same question was being asked, "How do two guys make that much noise?". The bands reputation of two guys sounding bigger than normal group's of four or five quickly grew their reputation which brought in interest from Capitol and Hollywood records, and legendary Producer/Engineer Mark Needham. The fall of 2013 was spent in East/West studios in Los Angeles with Mark Needham (Imagine Dragons, Fleetwood Mac, Pink) and the result was dual EP's "Resonator" and "Look Over Yonder Hill" released in 2015 to critical and commercial success. In 2015 The Cold Stares released their documentary "Look Over Yonder Hill", which documents their dealings with major record labels, court battles, and Chris's battle with cancer. The film was featured on PBS and shown across the country. The Cold Stares new album "Dark Dark Blue" will be released in spring 2016.
