История
1995
Originated in the band THE VERMIN Andy Krueger, Edgar Slatnow and Kay Hildebrandt formed their new music project MELOTRON. From now on the lyrics were meant to be in German exclusively. Already in this first year the relatively inexperienced musicians reached some remarkable success. Together with the famous electro-pop band AND ONE they were touring Germany between January and March.
During this tour the band sold some 1,200 homemade demo tapes. Along with well-known acts, such as ALPHAVILLE and S.P.O.C.K., the guys were on stage at the Leipziger Sommertage.
1996
Powered by the success of the last months a record company was to be found. MELOTRON caught up with ROBERT WOLF (A&R EMI records), who has been their manager until present time. Robert hooks them up with producer OLAF WOLLSCHLÄGER (Vorsprung durch Technik, Headroom, Remixer für Paradise Lost u.a.) and the guys are able to convince him of the MELOTRON concept and music. Together they start off the studio recordings for the legendary MÖRDERWERK (Murderer’s Work), the MELOTRON debut album.
1997
Already while studio sessions are still ongoing the band is touring whole Germany and is playing the well-known Festivals. Furthermore they do a showcase at the biggest German music fare POPKOMM.
In the same year the German cult label for electronic music ZOTH OMMOG/MUSIC RESEARCH is offering a record deal which creates a short but fruitful cooperation.
1998
1998 is the year of the breakthrough. In November the first single DEIN MEISTER (Your Master) is released which is entering German alternative charts from scratch.
At this time MELOTRON are playing support shows for EBM godfathers FRONT 242 on their Re:Boot tour and for German synth pop band DE/VISION.
1999
In March the MELOTRON Debut Album MÖRDERWERK is released. It goes up to rank 8 in the alternative album charts. The following single is the KARAT cover version DEN BLAUE PLANET (The Blue Planet). The song opens the door to airplay in Germany.
Along with English band MESH a massive German tour is played. On the bigger festivals like ZILLO or WAVE & GOTHIC TREFFEN MELOTRON are earning very positive response.

In summer the third and very much discussed single called KINDERTRAUM (Child’s Dream) is put out. The band is confronted with reproaches of getting too close to German soft pop music and to sell out. Despite that or even because of the discussions the song turns out to be the most successful single so far.
MELOTRON are heading back to studio to record the second album FORTSCHRITT (Progress).
2000
On the brand new label BLOODLINE (Edel/Connected) the first single release TANZ MIT DEM TEUFEL (Dance with the devil) is released.
The second studio album FORTSCHRITT is given birth in February. For the first time MELOTRON are working with different guest musicians. The songs are much more developed and experimental than on the predecessor album. The accompanying tour MELOTRON are doing on their own as headliner and leads them beyond the German borders. To the very surprise of the critics the boys are welcomed with enthusiasm in different European countries.
With their first E.P. E.P.SODE 3 the next single is released. As a bonus the live video to TANZ MIT DEM TEUFEL is put on the cd which had been recorded during the Scandinavian tour.
With WTII - Records MELOTRON are signing with a prominent partner for further US releases.
2001
The year 2001 is beginning with a scandal. TV news SPIEGEL TV (RTL) are reporting on the „Wittener Morde“(Satanist murders) and are using MELOTRON’S TANZ MIT DEM TEUFEL as underlying music. The song is the opener for a report which is characterized by prejudices and cheap clichés. The band is taking it easy but is somewhat embarrassed by the bad researches of SPIEGEL TV.
Meanwhile they are working in a new release – the BRÜDER E.P. (Brothers). DENNIS OSTERMANN from IN STRICT CONFIDENCE joined the band as guest singer on the title track BRÜDER turns out to be the biggest scene hit for the band and reaches spot 5 in the alternative single charts.
But, the year is ending with a tragedy. In December long term friend and publisher CARLOS ALBERTO HEINZ dies.
2002
After 2 years of cooperation the band is dropping BLOODLINE AND FINDS a new musical home in German record label SPV. The studio sessions for the third album are starting off. In June GIB MIR ALLES (Give Me Everything) is released as an advanced single. With the song MELOTRON present themselves very much more modern, danceable, and above all optimistic than in the past.
This way is followed consequently during the works for WELTFRIEDEN (World Peace). The band is opening for various music styles and working with acoustic instruments for the first time. While studio work is ongoing band members have serious discussion and arguing with each other routed in different musical intentions. Furthermore, singer Andy has to break the recordings a few times because of serious illness. The release of the album is delayed until September.
On September, 16 finally all problems are forgotten. WELTFRIEDEN is released. The album’s success exceeds all expectations and WELTFRIEDEN is nominated as the best album of the year by many critics.
Live shows are played world wide in 2002. With shows in North America, eastern Europe, Scandinavia, and many other countries MELOTRON prove that German music and German lyrics can be successful everywhere. Meanwhile, MELOTRON have developed to one of the most successful band of the genre.
2003
FOLGE MIR INS LICHT (Follow me into the light) is released as single EP. Promotion shows are played in Mexico and the US.
Together with Swedish electro act COVENANT MELOTRON are playing a major U.S. and Canada tour.
On their own label PLATTENKOMBINAT MELOTRON will re-release their debutlabum MOERDERWERK. The new version will contain some additional songs and versions and will be presented in a very special artwork.
After the successful US-Tour the band is heading back to the studio to finish the recordings for the new album, entitled STERNENSTAUB (STARDUST)
On Sep, 8 the new single KEIN PROBLEM (No Problem) is released. The song is returning to somewhat harder sound and enters German alternative charts on position 13. The band is preparing for another major tour which starts off on Sep, 13 in Rome.
2004
The STERNENSTAUB tour leads MELOTRON to South America where they play successful shows in Peru, Mexico and Argentina.
