The idea is to form an ensemble that can play an innovative role in the context of chamber music by elaborating the last expressions of Romanticism, contemporary musical languages, and those musical forms most influenced by the changes of our times (for example minimalism, and jazz). The trio featuring Orio Odori, Alessandra Garosi and Damiano Puliti makes its discographic debut with a CD dedicated to Nino Rota, released in Italy in 1992 by Materiali Sonori and in France in 1993 by IMP. This project is then revisited between 1996 and 1998 with the performance for video and orchestra "L'uomo dei Sogni - Omaggio a Federico Fellini". The second CD In a Room, released in 1993 and containing pieces composed expressly for the ensemble by the British composer Roger Eno, is followed in 1994 by the mini-CD Classical Music for Those with No Memory, again featuring music by the same artist. With Eno the group tours extensively and the two discs obtain remarkable international acclaim (In a Room is released even in Japan), casting Harmonia as one of the most successful ensembles of new European music. In 1994 sees the release of a record dedicated to Frank Zappa, an artist whose genius and music devoid of intellectual barriers have deeply stimulated the trio's imagination. Relying on an instrumentation quite different from Zappa's and not falling into a simply commemorative approach, Harmonia revisits his scathing and often provocative music and shows how it is possible to overcome hindering models and boundaries. The CD Harmonia meets Zappa, conceived and produced by Giampiero Bigazzi, features arrangements of cuts drawn from “Hot Rats”, “Waka/Jawaka”, “FZ Meets The Mothers of Prevention”, “Lumpy Gravy”, “Freak Out”, and some compositions that Harmonia dedicates to the great guitarist from Baltimore. Excursions into the world of rock continued with the realisation of a trio, taking as a starting point, the song A Day In The Life by John Lennon and Paul McCartney (commissioned in 1996 by "Teatro del Giglio di Lucca") and with a compositional research on Let's Spend The Night Together by Mick Jagger and Keith Richard. This crossing into the world of rock and the culture of the Seventies continued in 1998 with the trio's participation in "The Beatles, dalla Musica Popolare alla Musica Contemporanea" ("The Beatles, from Popular to Contemporary Music" promoted by the Official Beatles Fan Club of Rome, with an entire concert (Minimal Beatles Concerto) dedicated to the songs of Lennon-McCartney. In 1995 the trio began collaborating with the English composer Gavin Bryars. In agreement with Bryars new version of “Allegrasco” and “The North Shore” were prepared, while the composer wrote, in 1998, “Intermezzo”, a new piece for clarinet, cello and piano, exclusively for Harmonia. The record born from this collaboration (The North Shore/Intermezzo/Allegrasco) was released in 1999 for the New Classics series of Materiali Sonori. The end of 1996 witnesses the release of a new and courageous record, Events Line, with a presentation by Enrico Ghezzi, featuring only original compositions and dedicated to sounds and sensibilities found across the planet. In 1997 the members of Harmonia create a new soundtrack to be played live for Eisenstein's masterpiece "The Battleship Potemkin", and with Giancarlo Cardini, Arturo Stalteri, Paolo Carlini and Mauro Castellano are guest artists on Paolo Lotti's last record Hendrix, dedicated to the legendary American guitarist. With this record, Harmonia's collaboration with the percussionist, Paolo Corsi, began which would have an important role in the group's internal redevelopment. Between 1999 and 2000 the group worked on the album Fellini - L'Uomo Dei Sogni (Fellini- Man of Dreams), which includes new pieces and arrangements for a wide ensemble of the music of Nino Rota. In the same year they collaborated with the guitarist Giorgio Albiani and with the vocals group Viulan, playing on their album, and began recording a compact disc with the Macedonian Brass band Kocani Orkestar.
