Gehennah Информация о группе The story begins in the early 90's at one of these boring local gigs in Karlstad. Four metal heads playing in different bands understood that they just had to start a band that played Venom covers. It didn't take 'em many rehearsals to understand that they weren't good musicians enough to play those songs, so they started to write their own songs instead. The Gehennah lineup was at this time: Mr Violence-vocals, Ronnie Ripper-bass, Garm Stringburner-guitar, Captain Cannibal-drums. At summer 94 Captain Cannibal leaves the band and is replaced by the notorious bomber Hellcop. At the same time two other heavy metal maniacs at Primitive Art Records offers Gehennah a record deal. Recorded between the 25th and the 30th of December 94, "Hardrocker" is finally released in August 95 after some delays. The record kicks the listener back to the glorious 80's, with violent speed to show the listener what metal should sound like. Vocals like a nuclear hell shouting insults in your ear. Bass like the roar of an entire tankdivision. Guitar like a distorted Apollo 13, Drums like kamikazeplanes at Pearl Harbour. The releaseparty at Shitheads MC in Karlstad was filmed by Cromagnjocke at Primitive Art. The video of the titletrack "Hardrocker" is made out of shots taken at the party. Apart from the Gehennah and Primitive Art staff, people from bands like Nifelheim, Swordmaster, Mortiis, Vomitory, Dawn Of Decay and Nezgaroth appear in very drunk condition in this video. Last weekend in October 95 Gehennah recorded the Christmas single "No Fucking Christmas". As usual recorded with ghostly producer Living Skull at studio Prima Volta in Forshaga. The "music" for the two songs (including the solos) were recorded live in the studio and put down on the first take. Which along with a hellish production gives the single a raw sound in the vein of Venom's "Welcome To Hell". The songs "Sathana Claus" and "Merry Shitmas" gives you the true picture of the little man in red. This EP was in golden vinyl and limited to 500 numbered copies and it sold out faster than the speed of light. Now it's a true collectors item! By this time the french label Osmose Productions got their eyes up for the band and Gehennah signed for 2 new albums and once again entered the studio Prima Volta the 9th of July 96 to record "King Of The Sidewalk". As usual all the music except some solos and vocals were recorded live in the studio during a very short period of time, but the close distance to the nearest liquor store took it's toll...Mr Violence drank away his voice and the band had to wait until the first week of August to record the vocals! The band themselves weren't really satisfied with the recording, the production wasn't dirty and rough enough for the band's own taste. In spite of this "King Of The Sidewalk" got great reviews in the metalpress and was choosen as the album of the month in Terrorizer Magazine. And then they went on tour with Impaled Nazarene and Angelcorpse in Europe and they had a great time! When they got home again they took a short break to repair their nerves a bit before it was time to rehearse for new material. Before "Decibel Rebel" was recorded they had time to arrange a Headbangers Against Disco party. Their latest record "Decibel Rebel" was recorded at Sunlight Studio in August 97 and got a big fat sound, but still true to the "Gehennah sound". It s probably their best recording so far and it will be released by Osmose in January 19th 1998. At the same time Primitive Art Records releases their debut album "Hardrocker" on LP. In November 5th Gehennah also played at Hellfest - 97 in Stockholm with bands like Dismember, Disfear, Necrophobic, Edge Of Sanity and Kids Are Sick. Gehennah along with Dismember got the best response of all the bands playing. Gehennah has also recorded a really cool party split 7" with Rise And Shine, which contains two very cool duets featuring Mr Violence and Josabeth Leidi. Gehennah plays an old country classic "Jackson" cover and Rise and Shine plays Meatloaf "Deadringer For Love". This one will also be released by Primitive Art early 98. After that they toured for a week in Sweden with Disfear, one of the gigs was recorded by swedish nationalradio and this radioshow will be on the air in january and the radioshow is called "P3 Live". Gehennah also played at the Sound Pollution Party together with Dwarves and it must have been their absolute highlight of this year!!! As they are since longtime big fans of the Dwarves. The even had plans to record a cover of Dwarves "Who's Fucking Who?", but they dropped they idea because Entombed did a cover of Dwarves track "Satan". Guestvocals this evening was Rogga Pettersson ex. Merciless ("Get Out Of My Way" from their latest album "Decibel Rebel" where he also appears.) This was Rogga's first liveperformance since 1993. And Josabeth Leidi from Rise And Shine was singing "Jackson" together with Mr Violence & Co. On October the 11th GEHENNAH played their anniversary gig at MetalClüb (Karlstad/Sweden), also the special release was prepared for this evening - a limited CDR with four newly recorded anniversary songs... This will come out as 7"EP sometime later, so keep your eyes open, little ones... The madness will continue...
