When I think of Hong Kong, heavy music doesn’t come to the forefront. The Avian flu does, but glacially-paced death-laced doom metal doesn’t. Hyponic may be the first Hong Kong-based band that I’ve reviewed in the six years I’ve been doing this crap. Estonia, yep. Malta, sure. Hong Kong, never.

Even the most seasoned death/doom fan will admit there is a certain amount of homogeneity within the genre. Sub-guttural growls over turgid guitar chords held for eons seem to be the rule of the day. Hyponic most definitely fit that that death/doom prerequisite … indecipherable vocals from beyond the grave grace a guitar sound so dense and tempo so slow it gave me a sense of sonic claustrophobia and friggin’ frequency-induced bradycardia. Where Hyponic differ from the rest of their slo-mo brethren is the use of almost Sonic Youth-type odd atmospherics, tunings and crescendos. The title track is a perfect example of a slow-burning misery-fest that goes from a crawl to complete time-and-space sucking sonic fury towards the end.

The Noise Of Time is by no means a genre-busting achievement, but there is enough originality here to make it worth your while if you’re a fan of crawl-core misery.

Папа это у всех уже есть давно.
Не знаю что и сказать есть и хуже и лучше.
Сам бы тему не открывал - не чего интересно сверх нормы для меня нет.
