Heavy/Folk Metal 1999 ONMYO-ZA formation ONMYO-ZA was formed by MATATABI(b&vo), KURONEKO(vo), MANEKI(g),and KARUKAN(g) in Osaka, Japan. Later, TORA(ds) joined, making ONMYO-ZA a band with 5 members. They gave their first live concert on June 20th with male and female vocalists and twin lead guitarists. At the same time, they released a demo-tape "TSUNE NI GESSHO WO MOTTE SENJI NI KUWAE NISSHIN INYO WO MIN". Then they released a full-length album, "KIKOKU-TENSHO", independently, on 5th December. This drew much attention. 2000 Long lines at live concert hall In March, they had their first live concert in Tokyo. Their powerful performance led to the first independent live concert on November 25th in Osaka. With gaining momentum, they staged a high-impact event on December 17th, even though they were the pre-show band. After they played, many audiences formed long lines to get their 2nd album "HYAKKI RYORAN". Fan excitement even interfered with the main act. 2001 They signed a contract with KING RECORDS ONMYO-ZA attained nationwide recognition through the grapevine in their 1st year. They announced that they would make a major debut at a live concert on July 28th in Osaka. At the same time as the live concert two incidents occurred. The first was when the band played a song called “Kill the King” by RAINBOW as an encore even though they just signed a contract with King Records. The second was Yamada Fuutaro, an author whom MATATABI(b&vo) loved and respected died. ONMYO-ZA's lyrics subsequently reflected his works so they decided to continue the author's aspirations in their work. They made a striking major debut, releasing the single-CD "TSUKI NI MURAKUMO HANA NI KAZE" on 16th December. 2002 First nationwide concert tour On a tribute album to IRON MAIDEN ONMYO-ZA released a major debut album, "KOJIN-RASETSU" on January 10th. This album achieved great sales for a new heavy metal band. Then they went on a first nationwide live concert tour, "HARU NO URARA NO HYAKKI YAKO". Each concert was a great success, even though many of the live venues were firsts for them. They have also released a great mini-album "FUIN-KAIRAN", which includes a collection of their early works. They also released a tribute album to IRON MAIDEN called, “A TRIBUTE TO THE BEAST.” They are the only band from Japan to release a tribute to IRON MAIDEN. They released a maxi-single "YOKA NINPOCHO", that included a promotional video with fascinating images. This attracted a lot of interest from listeners 2003 Making rapid progress On January 22nd they released the album "HOYOKU-RINDO". Matabai also created a tribute album to JUDAS PRIEST, "A TRIBUTE TO THE PRIEST" whom he traces his musical roots to. They held a nationwide Spring concert tour "NARABA, MAKARI TORU!!" and many of the live concerts were sold out. You can see their great success on the live-CD "SEKINETSU-ENBU" and on the DVD "HAKKO-RANBU". They then released the single "MEZAME" in the autumn. 2004 New Brilliant Stage for ONMYO-ZA ONMYO-ZA showed a new sensitivity on "MEZAME", and released their maxi-single "NEMURI". This led to their 5th album "MUGEN-HOYO", which is one of their best albums to date, demonstrating great powers of concentration. Needless to say, the nationwide tour held from April was a great success. The final day was a sell-out. Two weeks later, on the 29th of May, they held a live concert in Nohgakudo ~a Noh-stage hall in Tokyo. ONMYO-ZA is the first rock band ever to play on a Noh-stage. They have released singles of their suites "YOSHITSUNE" for a three-month run from September. They are also planning their longest nationwide tour from September to December of this year. 2005 ONMYO-ZA powerfully acts inside and outside of the country. ONMYO-ZA released a new DVD that includes all 42 performances from during the autumn and winter of 2004 from Shibuya AX performance on December 9 to the "WAGA SHIKABANE WO KOETEYUKE(Exceed my corpse)" tour. They also released a TV animated cartoon theme song "KOGA NINPOCHO", for the first time in their career. In addition, they launched a fan-only site ONMYO-ZA KAKUREZATO live in May. In June the band released and official Band Score and in August a DVD was released. The band also held their first tour in Europe in the summer and then another tour in the winter. Both ended up as a great success. 2006 ONMYO-ZA released their first best album. Nationwide tour "IKIRU KOTOTO MITUKETARI!!" has been well received. Nothing can stop ONMYOZA's great performance. 2007 ONMYO-ZA released teier new original single and album after an interval of two years! ONMYO-ZA released thier new original single 'KOKUI NO TENNYO',and reputable their best album'MAO-TAITEN' after an interval of two years! A nationwide tour with newest songs was records sellout in various places, and it ends by a large flourishing business!And, an activity energy as a nationwide tour was done further in winter was developed. 2008 DVD that even word "Must see" is tepid is released. DVD live 'TENKA-FUBU' that final live at Zepp Tokyo of the tour performance in 2007 is released.
