 Power Metal  The story of Freternia begins in the summer of 1998. The first lineup: Tomas Wäppling - Lead vocals, Patrik Lund - Guitars, Bo Pettersson - Guitars, Peter Wiberg - Bass, Stefan Svantesson - Drums. In October 98 the fourtrack demo "The Blood Of Mortals" was recorded at StudioMega, Sweden. The CD never became released for public. Freternia recruited Tommie Johansson, only seventeen years old at the time, to give their sound a push with keyboards. But then some problems occured. Pettersson and Wiberg decided to leave the band to start a project of their own in the early spring of 99. Meanwhile the remaining members continued to work with material for a second demo and struggled to find substitutes. The solution became Mikael Bakajev replacing Pettersson and Wäppling decided to play the bass himself. The material was finished and Freternia went to StudioMega to record "Somewhere In Nowhere" in April. This demo was also sent to labels all over Europe. A couple of days later the band recieved a call from a small swedish label named Loud N' Proud records. A deal was made for one album and new songs were written but Tomas felt that someone else should take over the lead vocals. A great singer was found in Pasi Humppi and in August the band were ready to record "Warchants & Fairytales".. A short while after the recording of "W & F" Patrik Lund decided to leave the band for personal reasons. Therefor Andreas Heleander was recruited to fill the gap. In July 2000 "W & F" was released, almost a year after the recording. The album got some reactions and the band had the chance to play in France. Freternia had an idea of making a conceptalbum and with three songs in their bag they once again returned to the studio to record a promotion CD in February 01. Finally decided to sign for Arise Records. The second Cd of the band ``A Nightmare Story ´´ (first with Arise Records) has been recorded during Spring at Studio Underground (Steel Attack,Zonata,Terror 2000) & mastered by Mika Jussila at Finnvox Studio. The cover artwork has been painted by Jean Pascal Fournier. The Idea was to make songs easy to listen to and yet in a different way. The guys started to search for musicians to complete the lineup and the first one to join the band was Benny Eriksson a talented drummer. The three guys started to practice on some songs and short after Benny had joined a new member entered the Ironware family. His name was Stefan Andersson a great guitarplayer with a great sence for music. Now the songs started to sound really good and plans to enter a studio took shape. But there was still one member missing in the lineup and to fill the emty space bassplayer Freddy Zielinsky joined the band. After months of practicing the band entered a studio in Herrljunga and the foursong demo "Tales from a twisted world" was recorded. The band started to play live all around Sweden with great response. During the livesets singer and keybordplayer Pasi felt that the band needed a real keybordplayer and a sixth member was found in Dan Ljungdahl. For some reasons Benny had to leave the band and a new drummer was found in Mr Hakan Strind and this guy knew how to hit the drums. Now the band felt ready to enter the studio once again and a foursong MCD called "Return Of The King" was recorded and this was a killer Mcd. Short after the studio Bassplayer Freddy and Keybordplayer Dan left Ironware To replace Freddy the band found Peter Wiberg. Some more livegigs was made and the band awaited for response from recordlabels. Once again a member left Ironware and it was Wiberg who decided to leave and once again the band had no bassplayer. At this time Freddy was missing the band so much so he decided to join again and the line up was complete once again. The Mcd was sent to a couple of Labels that seemed right for the band and after a while Lmp (Limb Music Productions) showed interesest and recordeal was made. Short after this Ironwares first album was recorded at Los Angered and studio Underground.
